Holy Week

PALM SUNDAY

March 29th
8:30AM - Traditional Choir-Led Worship (Sanctuary)
10:00AM - Modern Worship (Auditorium)

Palm Sunday opens the story of the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ with a scene of triumph and tension. As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the crowd erupts with praise “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Mark 11:9). Palm branches wave, voices rise, and hope fills the air. Yet beneath the celebration lies the shadow of what is to come. This joyful procession marks the beginning of Christ’s journey to Calvary, where He will carry the weight of the world’s sins so that all may be saved. In a stunning turn of human emotion, the very voices that shout “Hosanna” will soon cry, “Crucify Him.” Palm Sunday invites us into this sacred tension—joy and sorrow intertwined—as we gather to begin Holy Week and walk with Christ toward the cross.

MAUNDY THURSDAY

April 2nd
6:30PM - Multi-Generational Worship (5:30PM - Family Dinner)

You are cordially invited to a very special worship event which is for EVERYONE – every generation as we focus on the centrality of FAMILY in the events of this night “on which He was betrayed.”  This multi-sensory worship, which includes a very moving and personable Communion time as well as participation from every generation, will be an experience you will not want to miss. In keeping with the family emphasis, we will gather for a family meal at 5:30pm with worship to follow at 6:30pm.

GOOD FRIDAY

April 3rd
Chancel Choir Cantata & Worship Service

“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29b)

Step into Holy Week through music, Scripture, and story. Join us for a powerful and moving worship experience featuring our Holy Week cantata, Blessed: A Holy Week Journey Through the Beatitudes. Presented with a chamber orchestra—piano, flute, oboe, French horn, violin, and cello, this richly textured work invites listeners to encounter Holy Week through the lens of Jesus’ Beatitudes. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus proclaims blessing over those deemed “unworthy” by the religious elite, boldly announcing their place in the Kingdom of God. His ministry, and ultimately His life, becomes a living embodiment of each blessing He declares. This cantata brings that truth to life, tracing the final days of Jesus as a sacred unfolding of grace, humility, suffering, and hope. Do not miss this special Good Friday service, where the story leading to the cross is retold through music, solemn congregational worship, and the proclamation of God’s Holy Word. Come, listen, reflect, and be drawn deeper into the meaning of the cross and the blessings that flow from it.

Easter Sunday

April 5th

8:30 a.m. – Traditional
10:00 a.m. – Modern
11:00 a.m. – Traditional

Easter morning is the joyful proclamation at the heart of our faith: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! On Sunday, April 5, St. Matthew Lutheran Church invites you to join us as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ—the promise of new life, forgiveness, and hope for all. Whether Easter is a long-cherished tradition or a fresh beginning, you are welcome here. Through Word, Sacrament, and joyful music, we gather to rejoice in the victory of Christ over sin and death and to hear again the good news that salvation is God’s gift of grace alone. We will offer three Easter Sunday worship services, each celebrating the same resurrection hope in distinct and meaningful ways:

8:30 a.m. – Traditional worship led by choir
10:00 a.m. – Modern worship led by our Praise Band
11:00 a.m. – Traditional worship with organ and Holy Communion

Come as you are, bring your family and friends, and celebrate the dawn of Easter with us. At St. Matthew, Easter is more than a moment—it’s the promise that because Christ lives, hope lives too. We look forward to welcoming you this Easter morning!
