Greetings Happy Campers!

The Spring Campout will be held the weekend of May 31 – June 2.  Our destination is the Gold Country Campground Resort in Pine Grove.  This is about ten miles up Hwy 88 from Jackson in the gold country foothills at about 2700 feet elevation.  It’s an easy drive with good roads in and out of the campground.  We have an area reserved for us with RV sites and tent camping options.  They also have “indoor camping” accommodations for those interested in a cabin or a motel type room.  Take a look at the web link for more details on the campground amenities and lodging options.  If you’re planning to go, you’ll need to contact me first via email with your name, camping type, and number of people in your party. I’ll respond with instructions.  There are a limited number of reserved spaces, cabins, and lodging rooms.  All reservations for our group must be in by March 20th.   After that, any open spots will be released.

There is a lot to do at the campground including a kids splash park.  Hiking, fishing, caving, big trees, and wine tasting. Jackson Rancheria and Munnerlyn’s Ice Creamery are close by as well.   Of course, you’re perfectly welcome to read, sun, nap, and generally relax at your site all day too!  This year we’ll have one common, potluck meal together on Saturday night followed by an informal worship service under the stars and around the campfire.  You’ll make your own dinner plans for Friday.  But remember, just because you’re making your own dinner doesn’t mean you can’t sit together with your neighbors!   As an option, there are some good restaurants in the area if you’d rather not cook.  Campers should be able to check into the campground after 2pm on Friday.  Once you’ve signed up with us, you’ll receive email updates as the date gets closer.

Of course, overnight camping isn’t for everyone but taking a drive into the foothills for a daytime adventure is something to consider.  The campground will allow day visitors to our site area at no additional charge if you’d like to come up and hang out among the pines with your church family.  You’re certainly welcome and you’ll find us camping types are all about hospitality.  There are also some excellent views of the Sierra range right from our campsites!

So, take a look at your calendar and see if the SMLC Spring Campout is in your future this year.  Please email me with any questions about the campout or the campground.  We’re very familiar with this area, it’s roads, and all it has to offer.

Bring a smile, leave with a memory!
